London Calling

 It was the last day of my quick trip to London and so I had decided to make the most of it by visiting my favourite places.
 

 
I started off the day having breakfast at the Candid Cafe. This little coffee shop belongs to the Candid Arts Trust, an art academy where I used to go to do some real life painting. It's not famous at all (in fact it's in a tiny little street lost in the borough of Islington!) but the old fashioned furniture, the dim illumination, and the sofas' patchwork tapestry create the perfect atmosphere to make you feel at home.

After that, I went to an exhibition of British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood at the Victoria and Albert, the world's greatest museum of art and design.

I could have stayed at the V&A all day long visiting its incredible galleries, but little time did I have, and so I decided to go for a walk to the Kensington Gardens. Once the private gardens of Kensington Palace, it is one of the Royal Parks of London. It is covered by wide extensions of the greenest grass and sprinkled by colorful flowers of the most varied scents. It is no wonder that Peter Pan used to spend his nights prowling in this playground, and it is no wonder that I decided to sit by the Serpentine lake to enjoy reading about his adventures in those beautiful gardens.

My last stop: the Shakespeare's Globe, a reconstruction of the Globe Theatre, an Elizabethan house located on the south bank of the River Thames destroyed by fire in 1613, rebuilt in 1614 and demolished in 1644. I was eager to watch perform one of my favorite Shakespeare's comedies, A Midsummer Night's Dream, when suddenly I passed by a telephone cabinet and the telephone rang. 

Holidays were over. I had ten minutes to meet agent 007 at Victoria Station. A new mission was entrusted to me by the British Secret Service. I'm sorry to tell you, but the rest is confidential...
